Q: Where is Midnight at the Oasis located?

A: The Midnight at the Oasis event is held at Fleet Steps South, below Mrs Macquaries Chair. View Location Map. Guests will experience fantastic views of Farm Cove, the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge – the best location in Sydney to see the fireworks! 

Q: What is included in the ticket price?
A: Your ticket to Midnight at the Oasis includes exclusive access to stunning harbour side views of both the 9.00 pm and midnight fireworks, a sumptuous three-course meal and a late supper, live music, live DJ and a dance floor. View menu

Q: What is included in the meal and how is this served?
A: Guests receive an entrée hamper on arrival. The remaining mains and dessert courses are collected from the catering service counter at nominated service times. Service times will be allocated according to guest table number and will be communicated to you prior to the event, as well as at your table. 
Please note there is no table service. Please also note that the availability of main course choices will be dependent upon their popularity on the night and an alternate selection may need to be made if your first choice is not available. 

Specific dietary requirements will be accommodated where possible. Special meal requirements MUST be submitted  by Monday 12 December 2016 via an online survey provided in an event information email.

Q: What is the approximate cost of beverages at the event?
A: Please view the beverage list which will be available by November 2016

Q: Is there any entertainment at the event?
A: Yes. There will be performances by a live band and a DJ will provide a range of crowd pleasers for young and old to get you on the dance floor!

Q: What time are the fireworks?
A: There are two fireworks displays on New Year’s Eve: 9.00 pm and at midnight. Both displays are synchronised to music, which will be broadcast at the event. The fireworks are provided by the City of Sydney and are dependent on safe weather conditions. In the event that the fireworks are cancelled, the Royal Botanic Gardens & Domain Trust will not be held responsible or provide compensation. Q: When do ticket sales close?
A: Ticket sales will close 2.00 pm on 30 December 2016 unless sold out prior.

Entry Information
Q: How do I access the event?

A: Midnight at the Oasis is located in the Domain on Fleet Steps South. Entry is via Art Gallery Road (100 metres north of the Art Gallery of NSW) where there will be a security checkpoint. Guests will then walk about 800 metres to the event site. View Location map 

Q: What is the best way to get to Midnight at the Oasis?

A: There are widespread road closures around the city and Garden on New Year’s Eve.  We highly recommend you use public transport and leave the car at home. The closest train stations are: 
•    Martin Place Train Station: 1 km from the managed access entry gate adjacent to the Art Gallery of NSW, with a further 800 m to the event site (1.8 km). 
•    St James Train Station: 900 m to the managed access gate entry adjacent to the Art Gallery of NSW and a further 800 m down to the viewing area (1.7 km). Additional bus and ferry services are available.

Q: Are there long distances to negotiate?
A:  The event site is approximately 800 metres or a 15 minute walk from the entry gate on Art Gallery Road. Pathways are sealed and relatively flat but there is a moderately steep slope to negotiate from Mrs Macquaries Road down to the site entry.

Q: What time should I arrive?
A: Entry to the event is via the entry checkpoint from 6.30 pm. There is no need to arrive prior to the gates opening, as only valid ticket holders will be allowed entry to the site. Please note all guests must arrive at the security check point no later than 8.00 pm to enjoy the full catering service. There will be no further admissions after this time. 

Q: What time does the event end?
The event finishes at 1.00 am. Guests are encouraged to stay on site until the close of the event to avoid the large crowds exiting the Public Viewing Area at Mrs Macquaries Point. Please note that Public Transport stations are also very congested immediately after the midnight fireworks. Remaining at the event until 1.00 am will improve your experience of getting home.  Exit is via Art Gallery Road (same as entry).

Q: Are pass outs allowed once I have entered the event?
A: No – there are no pass outs from the event once a guest has entered the site. There are no exceptions.

Q: What if I am attending with a group of people?
A: It is advisable to enter the event together as a group if you have made a group booking.

Q: Can I bring children?
A: This event is strictly an over 18+ event and you must be of age to purchase a ticket. Proof of age ID will be required at entry.

Q: Can I bring alcohol to the event?
A: No – this event is a licensed event and a range of alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages will be available to purchase at the cash bars at the event. Please note that bag checks will be conducted by security and is a condition of entry.

Q: Is there a dress code?
A: We suggest lounge suit / cocktail attire and comfortable footwear (high heels not recommended) along with a jacket or raincoat if it becomes cool in the evening or rains.

Q: What will not be permitted into the event?
A: The following items will not be permitted into the event site:
•    BYO drinks (including alcohol and water)
•    sparklers
•    illegal substances
•    weapons
•    glass or aerosol cans
•    Large golf umbrellas will not be permitted. Smaller umbrellas of no more than 50 cm are permissible. 

Please note restricted items may be confiscated and entry refused to any persons not complying with conditions of entry.  All ticket holders will be subject to a bag check at the entry check point.

Q: I have a special dietary requirement. What should I do?
A: The caterers will assist with dietary requirements where possible but meal selections MUST be made prior to the event via the survey link provided in the confirmation email. 

FACILITIES AT THE EVENT
Q: Are there ATM or Credit Card facilities at the event?

A: There are no ATM or credit card facilities at the event. There is a cash bar at the event that will have EFTPOS facilities however due to poor mobile reception on New Year’s Eve these facilities are erratic and should not be relied upon.

Q: Is this an accessible event?
A: Yes – the event is wheelchair accessible. Some sections of the seating and facilities are elevated and accessed via steps or a wheelchair lift.

Q: Are there toilets on site?
A: Yes – there are toilets including an accessible toilet for ticket holders’ exclusive use.

Q: What are the seating arrangements?
A: Midnight at the Oasis has communal reserved tables with various seating configurations. Please note it is likely that you will share your table with other guests unless you choose to purchase an entire table. Please also note that some tables have backless bench seating. 

A small number of tables have partially restricted views due to the position of trees or fixed structures (please refer the ticketing site). These tables are noted on a table plan at the point of purchase on our ticketing site.

There is access to a tiered grandstand for uninterrupted panoramic views of the harbour for the fireworks. The grandstand is accessed via steps and is not wheelchair accessible. There are however many areas across the site on ground level where the celebrations on Sydney Harbour can be viewed and enjoyed.

Conditions of Entry
Please remember you are entering the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney and Domain – a sensitive environment. Please consider the safety of other patrons. All patrons entering the site will be subject to security searches and must show valid identification and tickets. The following items will not be allowed to be brought into the event site:
•    No BYO beverages including alcohol and water
•    No glass
•    No sparklers, party poppers or candles
•    No umbrellas (personal umbrellas under 50 cm are allowed).

Smoking 
Midnight at the Oasis is a non-smoking site. There will be a designated smoking area, away from where patrons are seated.

Responsible Service of Alcohol
Alcohol sales are subject to Responsible Service of Alcohol and Harm Minimisation Practices which will be strictly enforced. 
•    Any patrons under the influence of alcohol on arrival will be refused entry.
•    Only people aged 18 years and over are able to drink and purchase alcoholic beverages. Patrons are also strictly prohibited from supplying alcohol to minors onsite (i.e. persons under 18 years of age).
•    You may be required to present photographic ID to security and bar staff in order to purchase alcohol. The following ID types are the only acceptable forms of identification:
- NSW Transport Drivers Licence or Interstate Drivers Licence
- Overseas Driver Licences with photo ID incorporated
- Passport (NO Photocopies)
- NSW RTA Photo Card www.olgr.nsw.gov.au/liquor_info_photo_card.asp 
- Interstate Proof of Age cards

News Year’s Eve at the Royal Botanic Garden & Domain is a Waste Wise Event
The Royal Botanic Gardens & Domain Trust is committed to achieving best practice in environmental management. All packaging of food and drinks sold on trust land for NYE is biodegradable or recyclable. We cannot recycle containers if the recycle bins have general waste in them. If contaminated, the recycle station will be sent to landfill so please be diligent with waste disposal.

Midnight at the Oasis has breath-taking views looking west towards the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House.

It is a popular ticketed vantage point which offers a less congested experience that the free public managed access site at Mrs Macquaries Point.

Wheelchair accessible site but some locations are accessed via stairs only. Patrons with specific needs please contact the ticket agent in advance on help@tixsupport.com to discuss wheelchair and accessible seating allocations.

Patrons can also contact nye.disability@rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au to discuss other individual access requirements or concerns.

About the site

  • Wheelchair accessible site but some locations are accessed via stairs only.
  • Long distance from security checkpoint gate to the event site – 800 metres or 12 - 15 minute walk. 
  • Moderate to steep slope from Mrs Macquaries Road down to the entrance along the seawall.
  • Some grassed viewing areas but there is a flat sealed pathway along the seawall viewing areas.
  • Minimal shelter or shade protection in queuing or viewing areas – bring a hat, sunscreen, rain jacket or umbrella.

  • Grandstand viewing available – accessed via stairs only

  • Dancefloor – raised off ground level and accessed via stairs

Seating

  • There is no seating in the queuing area. Those with specific requirements can register their needs via our online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/XZM95R2
  • This event has reserved table seating. Tables are communal with various seating configurations. Guests will share with others on a table unless they choose to purchase a whole table.
  • Some tables are on elevated sections and accessed via stairs. Guests in wheelchairs or those with limited mobility please contact help@tixsupport.com to enquire about accessible seating options.
  • Small number of tables may have partially restricted views due to low tree branches or event structures. Patrons can however enjoy unrestricted views of the firework displays from the seawall (level) or grandstand area (accessed via stairs).

Food and Beverage

  • No BYO food or alcohol. Guests will collect an entrée box on arrival. The main course is collected from the restaurant, which is wheelchair accessible via a lift.
  • To minimise queuing, each seating section has been given an allocated meal service time.
  • Specific dietary requirements will be accommodated where possible. There is a Special Dietary Requirement question to complete when purchasing tickets. Special meal requirements MUST be submitted by Monday 12 December. ‘Special Dietary Meal’ ticket purchasers will be contacted with a reminder of the deadline and further details for submitting meal requests prior to the event.

Opening times

  • Gate are open between 6.30 pm – 8.00 pm only on New Year’s Eve.
  • Entry is on Art Gallery Road only. There is no access through the Royal Botanic Garden.

Getting there
Public transport

  • Public transport is the best way to get around on New Year’s Eve.
  • Saint James Station is 1.5 kilometre or 22 minute walk to Midnight at the Oasis. There is a lift at the Elizabeth Street entrance at Hyde Park.
  • At Circular Quay station, trains will not stop between 6pm and 1am

Driving

  • Driving is not recommended. Extensive road closures and clearways are in place on New Year’s Eve.
  • The nearest public car park is the Domain Car Park which is 1.1 kilometres from Midnight at the Oasis. The car park is outside the New Year’s Eve road closures and open until 3am on 1 January. Pre-booking online is recommended.
  • The car park has 2 lifts. Use the lift closest to the Art Gallery of NSW. Vehicle clearance height in the car park is low at 1.9 metres.
  • There is limited accessible parking on Art Gallery Road for eligible permit holders only. These spaces are inside a road closure and so vehicles cannot move or exit until after 1.45am as large crowds exit along this road after the midnight fireworks.
