    This is an outdoor event which will proceed in all weather. Fireworks are presented by City of Sydney. In the event that the fireworks are cancelled, the Royal Botanic Gardens & Domain Trust will not be held responsible or provide compensation. Please note this event is 18+ only.

Where is Midnight at the Oasis located?

Midnight at the Oasis takes place at Fleet Steps South, below Mrs Macquaries Chair. View Location Map. Guests will experience fantastic views of Farm Cove, the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge – the best location in Sydney to see the fireworks! 

Entry gates are located close to the Art Gallery of NSW and then guests walk approx. 800 metres to the event site.

How do I get to the event?

There are widespread road closures around the city and the Royal Botanic Gardens on New Year’s Eve. We highly recommend you use public transport. The closest train stations are Martin Place Train Station and St James Train Station. Additional bus and ferry services are available.

What are the arrival and exit timings? 
Entry to the event via the managed ticket checkpoint is 6.30pm. Guests must arrive at check point no later than 8pm to enjoy the full catering service.

The event finishes at 1am. Guests are encouraged to stay on site until the close of the event to avoid the large crowds exiting the Public Viewing Area at Mrs Macquaries Point.

Public Transport stations are also very congested immediately after the midnight fireworks. Remaining at the event until 1am will improve your experience of getting home.

What is included in the ticket price?
Your ticket includes exclusive access to stunning harbourside views of both the 9.00 pm and midnight fireworks, a sumptuous three-course meal with a late supper, live music, live DJ and a dance floor.

What is included in the meal and how is this served?
Guests receive an entrée hamper on arrival. The main and dessert courses are collected from the restaurant at nominated service times. Meal service times will be allocated according to table number and will be communicated to you on arrival at your table. 
Please note there is no table service. The availability of main course options will be dependent upon their popularity on the night and an alternate selection may need to be made if your first choice is not available. 

I have a special dietary requirement - can this be accomodated?
Specific dietary requirements will be accommodated where possible. Please note that vegetarian / vegan / gluten free / dairy free / halal are accomodated within in the published menu. You need to purchase a 'vegetarian' or an 'other dietary' ticket to receive these meals.

Dietary requirements MUST be submitted at the time of purchase to guarantee you recive the correct meal. Dietary requests can also be submitted via an online survey by Friday 8 December 2017

What about beverages?
Drinks are not included in the ticket price. There are 3 cash bars in operation at the event selling a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. BYO drinks are not permitted.

Only people aged 18 years and over can drink or purchase alcoholic beverages. Photographic ID might be requested.

What are the seating arrangements?
Midnight at the Oasis has communal reserved tables with various seating configurations. It is likely that you will make some new friends through sharing your table with other guests, unless you choose to purchase an entire table.

Some tables have partially restricted views due to the position of trees or fixed structures (please refer the ticketing site) and some tables have backless bench seating. These tables are noted on a table plan at the point of purchase on our ticketing site.

There is access via steps to a tiered grandstand for uninterrupted panoramic views of the harbour for the fireworks.

What entertainment is at the event?
There will be performances by a live band as well as a DJ playing a range of crowd pleasers for young and old to get you on the dance floor!
There are fireworks displays at 9pm and at midnight. Both displays are synchronised to music, which will be broadcast at the event. The full program of entertainment on the harbour can be viewed here

Can I bring children?
This event is strictly an over 18+ event.

Is this an accessible event?
Yes – the event is wheelchair accessible. Some sections of the site are elevated and accessed via steps or a wheelchair lift. For patrons with specific accessibility needs please refer to the Accessibility Fact Sheet

Are pass outs allowed once I have entered the event?
There are no pass outs from the event once a guest has entered the site. There are no exceptions.

Midnight at the Oasis is a non-smoking site. There will be a designated smoking area, away from where patrons are seated.

When do ticket sales close?
Ticket sales will close 2.00 pm on 30 December 2016 unless sold out prior.

Midnight at the Oasis has breath-taking views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House.

It is a popular ticketed vantage point which offers a significantly less congested experience than the free vantage site at Mrs Macquaries Point.

Patrons with specific needs please contact the ticket agent in advance on help@tixsupport.com to discuss wheelchair and accessible seating allocations.

About the site

  • Wheelchair accessible site but some locations are accessed via stairs only. Some area are accessed via a wheelcahir lift.
  • There is a significant distance from security checkpoint gate to the event site of approximately 800 metres or 12 - 15 minute walk. 
  • Moderate to steep slope from Mrs Macquaries Road down to the event entrance.
  • There is a flat sealed pathway along the seawall viewing areas.
  • Minimal shelter or shade protection in queuing and viewing areas – bring a hat, sunscreen, rain jacket or umbrella.

  • Wheelchair lift to restaurant and main bar.
  • Grandstand viewing available – accessed via stairs only
  • Accessible toilet
  • Dancefloor – raised off ground level and accessed via stairs
  • Lighting – low level but adequate to allow safe egress

  • There is no seating in the queuing area. Those with specific requirements can register their needs via our online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/XZM95R2 or via email
  • This event has reserved table seating. Tables are communal with various seating configurations. Guests will share with others on a table unless they choose to purchase a whole table.
  • Some tables are on elevated sections and accessed via stairs. Guests in wheelchairs or those with limited mobility please contact help@tixsupport.com to enquire about accessible seating options.
  • Small number of tables may have partially restricted views due to low tree branches or event structures. Patrons can however enjoy unrestricted views of the firework displays from the seawall (level) or grandstand area (accessed via stairs).

Food and Beverage

  • No BYO food or alcohol. Guests will collect an entrée box on arrival. The main course is collected from the restaurant, which is wheelchair accessible via a lift.
  • To minimise queuing, each seating section has been given an allocated meal service time.
  • Specific dietary requirements will be accommodated where possible. There is a Special Dietary Requirement question to complete when purchasing tickets. Special meal requirements MUST be submitted by Monday 12 December. ‘Special Dietary Meal’ ticket purchasers will be contacted with a reminder of the deadline and further details for submitting meal requests prior to the event.

Opening times

  • Gate are open between 6.30 pm – 8.00 pm only on New Year’s Eve.
  • Entry is on Art Gallery Road only. There is no access through the Royal Botanic Garden.

Getting there

Public transport

  • Public transport is the best way to get around on New Year’s Eve.
  • Saint James Station is 1.5 kilometre or 22 minute walk to Midnight at the Oasis. There is a lift at the Elizabeth Street entrance at Hyde Park.
  • At Circular Quay station, trains will not stop between 6pm and 1am


  • Driving is not recommended. Extensive road closures and clearways are in place on New Year’s Eve.
  • The nearest public car park is the Domain Car Park which is 1.1 kilometres from Midnight at the Oasis. The car park is outside the New Year’s Eve road closures and open until 3am on 1 January. Pre-booking online is recommended.
  • The car park has 2 lifts. Use the lift closest to the Art Gallery of NSW. Vehicle clearance height in the car park is low at 1.9 metres.
  • There is limited accessible parking on Art Gallery Road for eligible permit holders only. These spaces are inside a road closure and so vehicles cannot move or exit until after 1.45am as large crowds exit along this road after the midnight fireworks.
